If you see something great….NOMINATE
Can you think of someone who deserves recognition for their contribution to massage? Do you know someone who goes above and beyond in the profession of massage? Is there someone who gives to others through touch and shares of themselves by volunteering? Each year, AMTA-NY is proud to honor those who go above and beyond for the profession. As a member, you can nominate or be nominated for a Chapter Award.
Here are the awards we would like you to consider for nominations:
Meritorious Award
Humanitarian Award
Sports Massage Achiever Award
Government Relations Award
Teacher of the Year Award
Please be as thorough and concise as possible. Recipients will be selected solely by the information provided. Submissions may be used in publicity materials – check for correct grammar and spelling.

Meritorious Award
Purpose
To honor an AMTA member who diligently volunteers and gives of their time in an altruistic manner.
History
-Award established in 1969
-To be given annually, chosen by the president
Qualifications
-Must be an active member in AMTA for at least one (1) year
-In good standing at the time of award consideration
-Have to give and volunteer
-Approved by the president

Humanitarian Award
Purpose
-To honor an AMTA member
-To acknowledge the “heart” of massage in action
History
-Award established in 1996
-Given annually
-There may be more than one (1) recipient in a given year
Qualifications
-Active AMTA member for at least one (1) year
-In good standing at the time of award consideration
-Volunteer work, which may or may not include massage, is done in the larger community. Including but not limited to: charity, church, supporting the arts, working with children, disabled, needy, sick, homeless, elderly, community outreach to populations for whom massage is otherwise difficult to obtain; fundraising for the same, consciousness raising, relief efforts
-Nominee shall not have received this award in the previous year
-Approved by the Awards Committee

Sports Massage Achiever Award
Purpose
-To honor an AMTA member
-To acknowledge accomplishments in the area of sports massage
History
-Award established in 1996
-Given annually
Qualifications
-Nominee must be an AMTA member for at least one (1) year
-Nominees accomplishment(s) exceed expectations
-Nominee displays cooperation and team play on team in good standing at the time of award consideration
-May include, but is not limited to, accomplishments that enhance the visibility, prestige, and acceptance of sports massage and sports massage therapists to the general public and the other components of the sports community
-There may be no more than one (1) recipient selected per year
-Nominee shall not have received this award in the previous year
-Approved by the Awards Committee

Government Relations Award
Purpose
–To honor recipient(s) who have provided exceptional accomplishments at the National or Chapter level regarding government relations activities
-To acknowledge and promote achievement(s) deserving of said recognition
History
-Award established in 1996
-Given annually
-There may be more than one (1) recipient in a given year
Qualifications
–Nominee(s) does not have to be a member of AMTA or a massage therapist
-Nominee(s) may have participated at the National and/or Chapter level in government relations
-Nominee(s) shall not have received this award in the previous year

Who is eligible?
Any teacher from a member school
Who may nominate?
Anyone
What does the recipient receive?
A special award and recognition at the AMTA New York Convention, and two tickets to the Saturday Dinner Dance Registration
