Interstate Compact in NY State Update
We appreciate those of you who have reached out to voice questions and concerns regarding S3931/A4444,, a proposal in the state legislature that would create an interstate licensing compact. For those who may not know, interstate compact bills create licensing agreements between states, so licensed professionals can practice in other participating states.
AMTA shares concerns with the legislation, and we would like to reiterate that the bill has not advanced and is not anticipated to receive a committee vote or subsequent floor vote this session.
We are actively monitoring this and other legislative proposals that would impact massage therapy, and in coordination with our government affairs representation in Albany, AMTA-NY engages on legislation as necessary and appropriate.
As always, if you have questions or would like to verify information you may see regarding pending legislation, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at; governmentrelations@amta-ny.org .
