A Life of Service, A Path to Healing: Meet Mark, owner of MC Total Body Solutions.

October 2025

Nominated and Written By: Livia Zimmerman, Membership Engagement Committee

From personal transformation to a lifelong mission of service, Mark’s journey into massage therapy is anything but ordinary. Mark first joined the AMTA about a year ago as part of his training at the Institute for Holistic Health in Poughkeepsie. For him, becoming a massage therapist is not just a new career; it’s the latest step in a path built on resilience, dedication, and service to others.

Years ago, Mark faced his own health struggles, describing himself as once “morbidly obese.” Determined to change his life, he lost over 120 pounds, became a certified personal trainer, and later studied nutrition at NYU. Mark specialized in weight management, diabetic control, hormonal balance, and, as a corrective exercise specialist. At the same time, Mark simultaneously became a firefighter and then a police officer.

Although Mark was making strides to help others achieve their body goals, he felt a deeper pull to assist them. Mark attended the Institute of Holistic Health in August of 2024. His time in the student clinic allowed him to work with people, feel what they were going through, and help them work through it with massage. During intake, Mark isn’t only assessing posture, gate, and chief complaint; he is also assessing aura and energy. Mark’s natural gift of being in tune may be his secret sauce to a great massage.

After serving over 20 years in both firefighting and law enforcement within the FDNY, Mark decided to retire from public service in January of 2024. In February of 2025, Mark found himself embarking on a spiritual journey at an Ayahuasca retreat in Costa Rica. This was the catalyst for his spiritual transformation.“It opened my sensitivity to people’s energy,” he explains. “It reminded me that true healing comes from addressing both the physical and the emotional.”

Today, Mark has turned his full attention to holistic health, opening MC Total Body Solutions in Eastchester, NY, where he offers massage, stretching, and wellness services. Mark works side by side with a chiropractor to provide posture alignment services, all centered around intuitive healing.

Looking ahead, Mark hopes to expand his knowledge of energy healing by leveling up from his Reiki II certification to becoming a Reiki master, incorporating sound therapy and vibrational work into his practice. “We all have gifts,” he reflects. “And our gifts are not for us, they’re for others. My goal is to use mine to help people heal, body and soul.”

When he’s not serving clients, Mark enjoys practicing mixed martial arts, hosting barbecues, and creating great vibes through meaningful gatherings with family and friends. He now dedicates more time to building relationships and cherishing time with his parents, family, and friends.

(Below, Mark is pictured finding his zen and peacefully soaking up the sun.)

Mark has an intuitive gift and such grounded, healing energy which he shares with others through his work. Mark is a proud member of the AMTA, and we are honored to have him.
